A tribute. A look back.

Axwell Λ Ingrosso

How Axwell & Ingrosso opened up the world of electronic music to me

I can still remember it exactly: it was a completely normal weekday, I was sitting in the car, Sunshine Live was playing, I actually should have gotten out already and walked to the office — and then this song came on. “On My Way” by Axwell & Ingrosso. I had never heard it before, but somehow it grabbed me instantly. The vocals, the progressive build-up, that drive — I got goosebumps. Not an overloaded festival banger, but a song with emotion and power. In that moment, I knew: okay, electronic music is more than just boom boom.

That was 2015. And from then on, I was hooked.

Once upon a time, there was Swedish House Mafia

Axwell & Ingrosso are, of course, best known as part of the legendary Swedish House Mafia. Together with Steve Angello, they dominated the 2010s. “One,” “Save the World,” “Don’t You Worry Child” — these were anthems that turned electronic music into the defining sound of the decade. The three Swedes brought house music to the biggest stages — stadiums, the charts, and people’s hearts. And they never felt like plastic DJs. They were always real.

“More Than You Know” — the soundtrack for goosebump moments

In 2017, “More Than You Know” marked their commercial breakthrough — and the track absolutely blew everything away. That melancholic guitar riff, then the drop, then those vocals … everyone listened to it on repeat all summer long. It was in every festival aftermovie, at every shared flat party, in every playlist.

That same summer, I saw the two of them live for the first time in Stuttgart. It was an experience. Two hours of pure euphoria. When they played “More Than You Know,” the lights almost completely went out — and then the drop hit like lightning. Everyone went crazy. Pure emotion.

Later, in autumn 2018, I saw them again at AMF in Amsterdam — the biggest stage, a massive crowd, and that same magic all over again. It’s hard to put into words, but when Axwell & Ingrosso play live, it somehow feels bigger than just music.

Their music — melodic, energetic, honest

What I love about Axwell & Ingrosso is that they perfected emotional progressive house. Sure, they can do festival bangers — but their tracks have depth. Songs like “Sun Is Shining,” “Dreamer,” or “I Love You” show that electronic music can tell stories too.

And their live shows? They’re well thought out. No ego hype, but musical journeys with visuals, breaks, vocals, and goosebump moments. Everything is on point. You feel the music, you sing along, you’re fully immersed.

When someone asks me how I got into electronic music, I say: Axwell & Ingrosso — “On My Way” on the radio. That was my door opener. After that came clubs, festivals, my first controller, DJing myself, creating playlists, and eventually this blog.

They showed me that electronic music isn’t just techno in a basement, but also emotion, euphoria, and community. And honestly: every time I hear “More Than You Know” somewhere — whether at the gym, in a club, or at sunrise after a long night — I briefly feel like I did back then, when I first truly understood what music can do to you.

Thank you, Axwell. Thank you, Ingrosso. Thank you for the soundtrack of my life.
